Vivek Kumawat, an artist from Rajasthan, combines traditional Indian themes with contemporary artistry in his works. A graduate of the prestigious Sir J. J. School of Arts (2001) and Khiroda, Jalgaon (1996), he is known for his vibrant paintings of the Nandi bull calf, which he portrays in dynamic poses set against richly colored, tapestry-like backgrounds. His signature style blends vivid colors with monochrome and infuses mythological events into the silhouettes of Nandi, creating a fusion of simplicity and complexity.
Kumawat’s art, deeply rooted in Indian folklore and mythology, has been featured in over 20 solo and group exhibitions across India and internationally, including in Dubai and Singapore. Recently, he has experimented with black-and-white paintings, focusing on the face and upper back of Nandi, filling them with sketches of Hindu mythological gods. Kumawat’s work showcases his commitment to preserving Indian traditions while making them accessible to a modern audience, offering both visual beauty and intellectual depth.
