Surya Prakash (1940–2019) was a renowned Indian artist celebrated for his evocative landscapes and forest-scapes that captured the beauty and spirituality of nature in vivid hues. Trained under the eminent artist Ramkumar, he held a BFA from Jawaharlal College of Fine Arts & Architecture, Hyderabad. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and internationally, including in Poland, Germany, France, the UK, and the United States.

His work was featured in prestigious events such as the India Triennale and the Paris Biennale. A recipient of the National Award and multiple honors, including gold medals from the Andhra Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy and the Hyderabad Art Society, he was also bestowed the title of “Kala Vibhushan” by the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society. Surya Prakash’s paintings are part of significant collections in museums, corporate houses, and private institutions worldwide, reflecting his enduring legacy in the art world.
