K .Laxma Goud is a prominent Indian artist known for his versatile mastery across various mediums such as etching, gouache, pastel, sculpture, and glass painting. He was born on August 21, 1940, in Nizampur, Medak district, Telangana, and comes from a family of toddy-brewers. Despite facing academic challenges early on, Goud pursued his passion for art and graduated with a diploma in painting from the Government College of Art and Architecture, Hyderabad.
In 1963, Laxma Goud moved to Baroda, where he delved into contemporary art while honing traditional fresco techniques. His return to his village later sparked profound insights into life and art, shaping his distinctive artistic expression. Goud’s exploration of eroticism has been a recurring theme in his work since the 1970s, influenced by his sensitive experiences in the village.
Throughout his illustrious career, Laxma Goud has showcased his art extensively both nationally and internationally. He has held solo exhibitions in major cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, London, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hyderabad, and participated in group exhibitions worldwide, including notable venues like Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai and the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi.
K. Laxma Goud has received several accolades, including the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2016. He continues to reside and work in Hyderabad, enriching the art world with his profound creativity and unique artistic vision.
