Born 1957, Ankit Patel studied sculpture in his home state at MS University in Baroda. Honored as a pioneer of Kinetic Art in India, Ankit Patel currently teaches at the College of Art in Jaipur. He has several outdoor projects in his repertoire including a series of bronzes for a park in the pink city of Jaipur apart from participation in many group exhibitions in India and abroad. Recipient of prestigious awards, Ankit Patel ceaselessly improvises his sculptural forms metaphorically stimulated by his rustic roots, and folk traditions. His works fall in the line of figurative genre and the convolution of form is attained only with utmost care and sensibility, which clearly emphasizes how a craftsmanship could be exploited to obtain aesthetic relish.
